“We can do it; Papua New Guineans can do it!”
The Chief Surgeon of Papua New Guinea, Dr. Okti Poki commended the CEO of Paradise Private Hospital, Dr. Robin Sios, OBE, the Executive Team, the middle managers, and all the staff of Paradise Private Hospital for contributing one way or another into the refurbishment of the New Operating Theatre, which was launched today, Friday 10th, February 2023, at Paradise Private Hospital.
We have been waiting for change and change has finally arrived I am honored to be here with my team of Surgeons for the launching of the Newly Refurbished Operating Theatre. It is remarkable to see our own nationals making a change to help the people of PNG in the health system.
Dr. Henao Asa, President of the Royal PNG College of Surgeons said that “the Operating theatre is like a sacred place where holy ritual activities commence. Every individual who has been wheeled through the corridors of an Operating Theatre once in their life has said a little prayer before going in for surgery in the hope that they will make it to the other side.”
“The launch signifies change, what we want to do best for our people. Providing a theatre that is affordable and accessible to our local people is what we aspire to achieve as a private hospital,” said Dr. Polapoi Chalau, Director of Medical Services during his final remarks.
The launch was hosted in the presence of the CEO of PPH, Dr. Robin Sios, OBE, with our invited guests Dr. Okti Poki, Specialist Pediatric surgeon & Chief Surgeon of PNG, Dr. Henao Asa, Specialist Orthopedic Surgeon & President of the Royal PNG College of Surgeons, Dr. Esther Apuahe, Neurosurgeon & Secretary of the Royal PNG College of Surgeons, Dr. Noah Tapaua, Specialist Cardio Thoracic Surgeon, specialist locum surgeons of Paradise Private Hospital, and the staff.
